British Prime Minister Boris Johnson refused to impose a lockdown in England before Christmas. He said data relating to Omicron would be reviewed to see if stricter measures were needed next week.

According to the agency, this announcement came after 90,629 new Kovid cases were reported in the UK. In a video clip released by Downing Street, Johnson said there is constant uncertainty about many things. In view of this, there is a need to look at the severity of Omicron, the rate of hospitalization.

We are continuing to monitor Omicron closely. If the situation worsens, we will enforce strict rules. Johnson said Omicron was expanding at a rate never seen before.

He said the government was closely monitoring the data. Strict action will be taken after Christmas, if necessary. He said that people can celebrate Christmas, but they have to be careful. Make sure to get a booster dose as well.

Scotland has implemented rules for large events, limiting the number of people. Edinburgh's annual New Year's celebrations have been cancelled. Wells had already planned strict rules after Christmas. The National Health Service (NHS) said that more than two-thirds of people aged 18 and over and those who are eligible have now been given a COVID-19 dose. In all, 25,130,453 people have got their second dose done. The online service launched for eligible adults last Wednesday.

UK Health Secretary Sajid Javid said that the first task for us is to vaccinate more than two-thirds of eligible adults in England. Each eligible adult can book the booster dose online.
